Hello everyone. I hope the upcoming conference is enlightening, optimistic and informative. I have LFS as did my mother (deceased) and probably my sister (died at 23 with breast cancer) I had early stage/ almost in situ breast cancer at 36 and had a double mastectomy. At 53 now I am considering having my ovaries removed but am not finding it to be an easy decision. I know this type of cancer is not so common with LFS as is with BRCA 1 and 2, but there is some risk and it is a cancer with few symptoms and poor prognosis.. I wanted to eliminate any risk, am already menopausal and so thought….why not? But now I am thinking of the actual surgery, recovery, taking out (hopefully) healthy organs, having more menopausal symptoms, sexual complications, and the increased risk of cardio vascular disease and osteoporosis…so it is not as straightforward as I initially thought. Due to go in about a week…am starting to stall.
Any thoughts?
