ACSO Post (11/18/2014): Certainly, further research is needed, but this is good news for those with LFS. This research indicates that specific treatments used to treat diabetes could suppress tumor growth, as delineated in the article (reference the p53 gene family), and may be potentially effective in treating certain cancers. NIH is conducting a pilot study with LFS patients using metformin, a drug is used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes.
