About Team LFSA – Fuel the Fight

Team LFSA was created to bring visibility and support to families affected by Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS). Founded by Jacob Kubetz, a dedicated LFS family member, the team will make its debut at the 2025 Chicago Marathon to raise awareness and donations that directly support the mission of the LFS Association.

For Jacob, running is about more than crossing the finish line. His mission is to run marathons with purpose: to fight Li-Fraumeni syndrome and further the legacy of hope. LFS is a multi-generational cancer threat to his family and many others. Each training mile is a reminder of their strength and courage, and every race is an opportunity to honor their fight.

This effort is about more than one marathon. Team LFSA is the start of a movement to build an ongoing presence at major races, with goals to run the 2026 Boston Marathon and inspire future teams to join in. Each step fuels research, patient support, and hope for the global LFS community.

Jake’s Mission

My mission is to run marathons with purpose: to fight Li‑Fraumeni Syndrome and further the legacy of hope.

LFS is a multi-generational cancer threat to my family and many others. Running and fundraising is an opportunity for me to support my family’s fight.

I often tell my family how strong and brave they are in facing LFS head-on, and I often think of them while running. The marathon training miles (1,434 so far this year) provides lots of time to think. During my training and races, when I am digging for motivation, I don’t need to look further than my wife or my kids.

I hope to use the Chicago marathon to raise money for LFSA, an organization leading the fight and furthering the legacy of hope for my family and many others.
