Overview
The symposium is designed for interprofessional healthcare providers and focuses on defining the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and manage hereditary cancers to support optimal patient care. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of hereditary cancer predispositions to enhance genetic counseling practices, improve the appropriateness of genetic referrals, and facilitate the integration of precision medicine options into clinical care.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
  1. Explain the foundational principles and clinical practices involved in genetic cancer risk assessment
  2. Describe the impact of hereditary cancer on patients’ lives.
  3. Recognize patients who may benefit from personalized cancer therapy and evaluate appropriate timing for genetic testing referral.
  4. Develop and apply effective management approaches for patients with inherited susceptibilities to cancer.
  5. Analyze how genetic services are integrated into precision medicine practices.

Registration

A Hybrid Conference
The 9th Annual Hereditary Cancer Symposium will be held as a hybrid conference. The conference in-person registration will be held at the Duncan Building (CPB) Conference Center, Floor 8 located at 1155 Pressler Street, Houston, Texas 77030.  Registration and Continental breakfast opens at 7:30 AM and the Welcome and Introduction will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 and will adjourn at 11:40 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2026.  The Zoom information and all other necessary links will be emailed out the week of the conference.

Reception
The welcome reception is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026 at 5:00 PM immediately after the conference adjourns. Hors d’oeuvres and beer/wine bar will be served.
