Hosted by Upstate Medical University during Sarcoma Awareness Month, LFSA’s Kathy Higgins, Director of Education and Awareness, sat down with orthopedic oncologist and clinician-scientist Dr. Tim Damron regarding sarcomas and Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS).  The conversation illuminates the complexity of LFS sarcomas and the importance of early intervention, beginning with a proper biopsy.  Also discussed are the advances in research which have provided better options for treatment.  In spite of the heartbreaking losses the Higgins family has experienced, Kathy has been a passionate advocate for not only her husband, Jamie, in his personal journey of LFS cancers, but she is also grateful that she can contribute to saving and improving the lives of others with LFS as a volunteer board member with the LFS Association.
