Youth Connect
- at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us June 19th at 3pm EDT
Youth Connect is a quarterly virtual event for teen and young adult participants ages 13 to 21 to be able to learn from and engage with an expert in the LFS field and make new friends with other LFS youth.
For this first Youth Connect meeting, we will hear from Rowan Forbes-Shepherd, a postdoctoral researcher at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Victoria, Australia. Rowan will be speaking on his research and a large study on young people’s experiences with LFS at the National Cancer Institute. Allison Werner-Lin, PhD, LCSW, UPenn, Philadelphia, PA, will join in on the open discussion, covering their combined research, as well as stress and coping with LFS, dealing with grief and loss, reproductive decisions, family life, self-perceptions of body image, and more!
Following the discussion with our guest speakers, the LFSA Youth Program Chairs will dedicate the rest of the meeting to an interactive social time with conversations and games. LFS can feel like an isolating diagnosis at times, and this is a wonderful chance to make some new friends or say “hi” to familiar faces, all in a relaxed, safe, and fun space.
It is our hope that this event will make you smile and leave you feeling educated, supported, and connected. We hope to see you there!
